What can a running coach provide?

If you’re looking to improve your running, then a running coach could be what you need to take it to the next level. Whether you’re just starting out, or attempting to break three hours in the marathon for the first time, I can help you identify and achieve your goals.

I’m an England Athletics Coach in Running Fitness, but more importantly, I’ve got more than 10 years’ experience of running and working with runners to improve their running ability. I’ve run everything from 5k Parkruns to 100k ultras, and have experience improving times significantly through following bespoke training plans, tailored to individual athletes.

As your coach, I can provide:

  • An initial assessment to identify your running objectives

  • A bespoke training plan targeted for your goal race or event

  • Monthly check-ins via Zoom

  • Regular contact via WhatsApp or e-mail to suit your schedule

  • Advice on strength, conditioning, nutrition and recovery

What kind of runner are you and how can I help?

Beginner

If you’re just starting running for the first time, I can provide you with advice about how to do so in a safe and sustainable way with bespoke couch to 5k plans that fit your schedule and current fitness level.

Part of starting to run and making it stick is having someone be able to explain the basics, provide advice, support, reassurance and answers to questions that frequently come up at the start of your journey.

Trig point trail run

Intermediate

You might be a relatively experienced runner, but want to tackle a new distance for the first time, or start hitting landmark time goals for the first time.

Whether it’s completing your first half marathon or finishing a 10k in under an hour, I can provide a structured plan that introduces you to higher volume and speedwork in a safe and controlled manner.

Advanced

At an advanced level you might want to start hitting ambitious goals such as a sub-3 hour marathon, or competing to achieve your first age group masters vest.

Having a detailed training plan that specifically targets your goals will be crucial to achieving them. Providing a plan with structured workouts will be just one part of the puzzle. A holistic service that offers advice on strength and conditioning, nutrition and raceday strategy will be crucial to your success as an athlete.
